As for smaller planets, there is a valid strategy for having only a few turrets on a planet, as it makes using assaults to capture the planet difficult without fighter escort.

Remember, however, the planet has to have uranium (for ammo) and at least 1 million defense before there can be any turret based defense. Any planet with less than 1 million defense or with more than 1 million defense but without uranium on the planet is safe for assaults to go in even if it has turrets, as the turrets will not fire.

A planet with 1 million defense and a bit of uranium on the planet is probably a trap for unwarry assaults. However, it is not really a very good defense, since even one untrained fighter would be able to devestate a planet with only one active turret. Therefore, it is unlikely to see turrets on planets with less than 10 million defense. Above 10 million, expect to see them and bring fighters to the attack, unless you have checked with a small assault or fighter beforehand to be sure the planet has no turrets.

This might be a stupid question how will the points be totalled for a turret kill? guess the question is how many points do u get for a turret killing an assault? and the opposite how many points for a fighter killing a turret[s]

also, will SPC planets have turret abilities?:D just a thought

You SHOULD get the same points for killing a ship with a turret as you do for killing the same ship with another ship. However, not sure if that has been completely tested yet, so we could possibly have a bug to fix in that points formula for turrets. Will look at that and test it soon to be sure.
