Iiridayn, perhaps it could be O(n(n-1)/2)? ;)

What it means is a program isnt allowed to give commands back to the page... i.e. You not allowed to get a script to load a certain page and instruct an assault ship to attack a planet.

Your not allowed to set a page to refresh constantly making it so a ship keeps moving in a certain direction. Basicaly a script that tells the page to do something that results in an action is not allowed.

You can however make a program to input the coordinate numbers for a hyperjump, but you are not allowed to make it submit and jump to the said coordinates.

You can create a script to read the information from the page, i.e take a recording of your planets, or read the news.

And for the record... All the software I made for indaGalaxy was done in pure Javascript meaning that the coding was freely available for everyone to see. There were no AJAX calls and there was no submitting information to the website for storing purposes.

i.e. it was totaly clean and useable :-)

Also when I created SL Satellite the coding was also up for review by Proff (and maybe one of his students). This should be the same again so if anyone is to code an application for SL I think the coding should be submitted for Iiri to review.

MBIK:

O(n(n-1)/2)

is not correct because big o notation only takes the most significant one and also drops constants

so that becomes n^2-n when you drop the 1/2 constant, and because as n -> infinity the n is insignificant compared to the n^2, you drop the n as well

so it ends up as O(n^2)

big O is for large orders of behavior, and it has to do with increase in time with increase in n, so n/2 and n both double the time if you double n, so they are both the same in big o

H911Reiver, thanks for the explanation. I agree that division by 2 is pointless (oh, did I write it?? :hellno: ). I'd still prefer to write it as O(n^2 - n), although I must agree with you because I didn't know if there were rules about dropping insignificant parts... It's strange that nobody has taught me about it yet.

That this problem is not really a problem, as n is limited to 50 :D
