Now, I seem to recall helping a LOT of new players, I know a lot of other people helped a lot more then I did. YET for some reason people feel the need to massacre OBVIOUSLY active new players, I think posting in the forums and actively trading is pretty active. I don't understand why people expect not to be completely annihilated but yet every chance they get they kill a noob. EVEN when someone messages them TELLING them they are active they blatantly say, no they aren't WHERE THE **** do they come off thinking they know better then someone who actually reads the forum and plays the game more then once a year...*COUGH*

If your only purpose in playing SL is to kill any active noob that likes the game...Go die.

(there is no problem just attacking them, teach them a lesson, when they are active you shouldn't just rape them, this message is not directed at anyone in particular but if you would happen to have any Orion coords, I will happily buy a few just for kicks.)

Thanks

Think you are right bro, new active players is what makes this game holding on (just) it's not "fresh meat" in prison wich should be passed around.

If I don't recognize the name of a planet owner, I check the profile. If it's well into the round and the player has 0 points, I take the planet.
If I follow a chain, I stop and think before I defeat a player. Sometimes I send a note, and sometimes I just wait a few days to see what happens.
If I stumble across a system with one green, one player planet (usually with a transport parked next to it), and one SPC planet, I don't hesitate to take it. If that player is actually new, he is protected for a 7-day period, and I'll just watch to see what he does.
If an active newb is unfortunate enough to be popped into the real arena next to my homeworld, I usually send a "do you need help?" note. If I get no response in a reasonable time, I'll go ahead and take the planet.

Does that sound reasonable?

perfectly, that is basically what I do...when people are posting in the forum and asking questions it's those idiots who wipe them out that bother me...MEANWHILE, vets like us were kind enough to leave them alone (in particular I remember HELPING Orion when he was a noob, he turns around and massacres someone just like himself) wtf is that?

What I don't understand is how, with the excellent recommendations in the help sig, that players are so easily defeated?
One of which is to announce yourself to any nearby player. Another is to break all chains. There are others.
Yes I know that I have wiped out one "active" newbie. I have my reasons.
Back to the subject. It would seem that one trip through warp ought to be required or allowed in the newbie area.
Also when in the protected game area, many players spend a lot of time trying to clear out the planets that are nearby. Well this is a waste of effort. I probed every quadrant to spread my self out and even then I had to OB several planets on entering the real game.
So it would seem to me that maybe the advice to new players should be updated, but even then I doubt they will take the time to read the information contained there.
