Currently you can buy 5000 credits for 40 bucks. At current market prices that's about 2.5 million troops.

At 40 bucks I will do 5 mil in defensive resources or 10 mil in desirable non def (V,I,U) or 15 mil in non desirable non def (S, G).

Ships and planets are also available and can be converted to these unit prices based on what you need..
