NEW RULE: For November 2005 round and later rounds, any member of an alliance LEAVING or KICKED OUT during the last five days of a round will continue to be considered a member for purposes of calculating points per member for the round.

Thanks Thabin for suggesting this new policy to help keep the game playing field a bit more fair for smaller clans.

Maybe the similar rule would be needed
When player without clan and with couple of points join...

That is accually a very good point

However who is to say that the player was not going to join for good

Secondly, would this stop clans sending there best members into one clan with others, just to stop LTC winning???

Humm. Interesting point. I had not thought of that. I think, however, that the rule only affects points per member, so I suspect that players joining will be less of a problem than players leaving an alliance.

By the way, BOTH Armageddon and LTC used this trick this round. LTC won, but it is not whether or not they won using it that concerns me, but preventing this particular aspect of last minute gaming at the end of the round.

As for players joining, and impact on total points, I do not believe I will have any restrictions on that, so it might be wise to have enough of a major, as did LTC this round, to make that not a viable option to edge out a clan that is otherwise winning.

Its a good news to anti LTC coalition.
You can leave you own clan on the end of round and join anti LTC coalition. And you points is calculating twice - one time to you old clan points and second time to you new clan...:D

Bielka, don't worry, rules are the same for everybody. LTC members who will have the most points at the end of the round will be allowed to leave LTC and create another clan to be first :D

P. S.: Bielka, it's a secret, don't tell anybody! :shh: If Professor will hear this he may think a better rule...

No, I will not join a clan other than making a clan of one.

As for points, you will definitely not be able to count points in two clans. Leaving will keep you in total clan size (which will be adjusted to reflect last minute moves), but not in clan points for the round. Actually, thanks for raising that issue, as I had not thought of it. No, you can not leave and keep the points with your old clan. Your leaving at the end of a round can only hurt, not help, your old clan. As for your new clan, I suppose we could implement a minimum period after you join and clan before you can leave, but that would be a problem for junior and senior clans so I do not want to do that. And, I do not want to wait to award points or prevent people from joining new clans.

I think it is clear the type of potential abuse that I am seeking to prevent here. However, let me be very clear on the issue Bielka has indirectly raised. If there is perceived abuse of any type in winning a round, and if there is a valid basis for concern about who has won a round given some perception of unfair actions at the last minute, I will do what the US government has done when a presidential election is in dispute. I will delay awarding a winner and will seek input from a jury of your peers in the SL council to arbitrate on a disputed but not clearly forbidden perceived abuse. I can not predict every form of abuse in advance, but I think the SL council will be in a better position than I am alone to determine if a winner on points has in some way violated the socially acceptable norms of the game.

As for October round, LTC won it hands down, fair and square. I just want to make it clear that on the specific criteria of points per member, the number of points will be clan points for all members remaining at the end of the round and the number of members will be adjusted to include any members leaving, banned, suspended, or kicked out in the last five days of the round. There will, however, be no restrictions on joining a clan at end of round to increase total clan points for the round. Clan mergers will also be permitted, unless there is a strong objection from members of SL council, and if there is, I will honor their views.

Everything looks awfully complicated. Maybe you could just disable joining/leaving clans during last 3 days (or so) of the round?

What about restricting the ability to change clans more than once in a 5 day period? or even 30 days?

This would still allow clans to merge, but restrict the last day change in clans to win the round only to switch back the next day.

As for members joining Armageddon at the last minute, I joined 4 days before the end of the round and plan to stay. Anyone paying attention might have noticed that all of the remaining active players of The Underdogs were joining Armageddon and should have suspected that I might also. It was not a fact I was hidding.
