Strange how people are raised to not question what another person says. As a child, I'm sure many of us heard our parrents say "It just is" when asked as question they couldn't answer, but knew to be true. (Iiri, I suspect you actually got the long answer, hehe) In school, we are told to believe the things our teachers tell us, just on the principal that they are teachers. Religion is no different, we are just supposed to believe it, and if we don't, they threaten us with stories of Hell and other terrible things.

Do I belive in God? yes.

Do I believe in life after death? yes.

Do I belive in organized religion? No!

More people have died on this planet due to organized religion than any other reason, except possibly old age.

Organized religion has historically been a way to control large populations through fear and corruption.

There is nothing wrong with questioning something. Some things like religion can not be proven true or false, so you must ask yourself where did it come from. Is there the posibility that it has a different orgion than what you have been told?

I only got the long answer after much effort, and then only occasionally. Mostly I just got in trouble for it. At school I was a "problem child", and ended up in boarding school because I didn't respect my teachers -- they wouldn't give me the deeper answers. Now that I am older, I understand that it's because they weren't bright enough to know, and were trying to cover for that by imposing their authority. The tragic result is, as a result of my blind faith in them (even if only because they were the only source I had for knowledge), I have found that several things that I believed because I was taught them were wrong, and there are almost certainly more .

At home, I got better answers, and in less trouble for pressing, as my parents probably understood that an inquiring mind is a sign of intelligence, and so shouldn't be suppressed for being different or difficult.

In religion, just as all other things, I have asked questions to my heart's content, and unlike pre-college school, I got satisfactory answers to each. But ofc, I still ask questions when they come to me . I have as a bit of a goal to know everything .
