Since I'm a fan of both, I'll just add to the discussion by pointing out that many kinds of dogs are specially bred for hunting, though often they aren't used much for it any more. Bear dogs, badger dogs, etc. If you think a dog can't fight, you should try the jaw strength on a bulldog - yes, a dog that threatens bulls.

I will grant you that cats tend more often to hunt more often alone. It would be interesting to see who would win between a lion and a dog bred to a similar size and ferocity. I'd guess that the lion would back down - "if you miss on your first pounce, try try again elsewhere".

Humans of course are the strongest of all .
