keep the probing missions as its a useful skill to have but maybe give them a few probes to start with

Maybe I should go do the newbie missions and re-learn to probe. SL Currency Training

Regardless, I still think it's an important lesson to learn. The Warp has de-valued probing somewhat because you're garenteed that at some point the Warp will find a planet, and it finds x20 greens that are not (unless this has changed?) found by probe. But it's still a reasonably valuable strategy to have available to you. As demonstrated by the following:

1. Egis 627
2. Cajin Von Sian 427
3. cwpick1 374
4. Eternal Light 345
5. Wynn Sol 339

In total as well, over 500 planets have been found this round through probing. Personally I lean towards having the Probing lessons more in depth so they're actually worth something - going into search patterns and track spacing for your probes etc...
