There were eight planets which were found to have had excessive shield or production points.

One was created by Iiridayn for system administrator's main HW to keep that account from being deleted, and it is fine to be that way.

Several were owned by one player, who had figured out a way to "improperly" create production points in excess of that which is allowed by the normal game interface and rules. A few others appear to have been captured from that player, and where using the extra production points to create resources or to have excessively large shield strength.

These planets have been changed now to x9 production point planets. There was too much production for a while on them, and now they might have less than they should according to their age and location, but it is fair give prior unfair advantages realized by these few players. Any resources which appear to have been received recently from this excessive production were also removed from these planets to reduce the gains from this bug for these players.

There may still be some problems, and the system administrator and I will be doing some additional inquiries into possible unusual production, shield strength, etc on all planets in the game via direct database querries. However, at least the immediate and high concern issue has now been addressed and resolved.

Sorry for allowing this to happen, but it is hard to forsee every way that might be used to cause bugs in the game.

That is a horrible, shoddy and highly inappropriate solution.


If something is wrong with the game, that is not the fault of the players. It is not neccessarily the fault of the programmer either, as it is not always easy to tell how game will react.

Should the player report what has happened? Yes, probably, but if it is allowed by the game interface you can't call it an illegal bug exploitation - the game has let you do it without resorting to HTTP code which you had to do with the recent planet bug. Several players must have abused that bug at some point, it was pointed out three days before the game went down so it could be fixed. Yet no one was punished.

Removing resources - yes, that seems fair. But to change all of the planets to x9 production to me seems unneccessarily harsh and a stupid course of action. Instead a far more sensible course of action, and one that an impartial moderator would probably take, would be to return the planets to roughly their original production points.

I must confess myself to be disappointed in an administration decision for the first time since the game changed ownership. This seems to be more an attack on one individual player than an action to level the playing field.

WTF

If you captured a planet that was bugged and imediately pm'd the proff, then put only the def needed to hold it, so that it could be investigated. That should not have effected anything and the proff should have rewarded that. anyone else exploiting the bug for any reason should have had the planet oblitted as soon as proff found out, with everything lost. We ALL know better. It has been clearly stated not to use or abuse buggs or else. What part of OR ELSE isn't understood. If you used the bug for personal gain, even though you did not create the bugg, you are still guilty :shrug:

I captured King Ravana Hw which was a nice target with 4x shield only. I didn't expected the planet has something about 200 production points inside. I began to reallocate them on T, but points started dissapearing above 127 and lost i guess more than 50 of them in this way. What a pity :]

Actually i have my own reason why i'm not in a rush of reporting bugs. Still i pmed to King Ravana about this, had a thought he might be our new administrator. Then came Professor post about this will be fixed soon. Now few days passed and i'm robbed more than i produced having that planet :S Where should have i put it tell me anyone? :D

You could have put some troops or energy on it and set them all to shields and then PM'd proff, that's what I would have done..... :shrug:

Well yeah, i put deffence there and a nice x20 shield. Some points were left so i put them on T in order to protect the planet better. To protect better for further investigation :D

I understand well we are responsible to report bugs, but i had one delicate accident and feel a right to make some maybe unfair advantage till a certain sum ;)

I don't have anything against removing resources, but seems at least resources in King Ravana planets were not touched.

i think he should be banned if he hacked into it and gave himself loads of production points!
