So, I've been wanting to reboot my computer to take care of some personal business (financial, not videogames ), and so as soon as my newly purchased NIC arrived in the mail and I had an afternoon open, I put SL back on its own server again. The bad: it's still a dynamic IP, with all that that entails. The good - it's acting as my router, so I can safely reboot without disrupting service once again. Also again, OpenDNS is already updated to the latest IP (I use them to test since I can remotely flush their cache), Google should be up to date within 30 minutes, and if it took you a couple days, consider changing your DNS provider, as they aren't honoring the networking protocols.
